 Periodically check all plumbing; toilets, faucets, shower heads, washing machine hoses, pressure relief valves (water heater) and water softener for leaks or plumbing problems.
 Don't use toilets as trash cans

 Sweep off sidewalks, driveways, patios, decks, tennis courts, etc. Don't hose off.
 Water in early morning and late evening.
 Monitor your sprinkler heads and timers.

 Wash only full loads in dishwasher and clothes washer.
|
 Water slowly to reduce runoff and get deep penetration.
|
 Turn faucet off while you are brushing your teeth or shaving.
|
 Put mulch in layers around trees and bushes.
|
 Keep a container of drinking water in the refrigerator.
 Shower for less time.

 Water your lawn area less frequently and for a shorter length of time. Lawns only require 1 or 2 waterings per week.

 Change toilets to Ultra Low Flow toilets.
 Use aerators on all faucets.

 When washing your car, use a hose nozzle and a bucket.
|
 Don't run water before plugging the bathtub.
|
 Install a pool cover in order to recover water loss from evaporation.
|
 If replacing clothes washer, replace it with a front load washer.
 Reduce the amount of time that your water softener regenerates.
 When vacating the house for a period of time, bypass the regeneration cycle of your water softener and turn water off to all appliances such as washing machines.

 Make sure your sprinklers are leak proof and not aimed at sidewalks, streets or driveways.
