More About the Capital Improvement Fee

On August 1, 2020 NPPWD implemented a Capital Improvement Fee of $1.90 per unit per month. Below is some additional information on why the fee has been implemented and what it will be used for.

Why is the fee being implemented?
Similar to your home, capital equipment tends to fail as it ages. As our system begins to age, we will be investing additional funds into our system. Proactive improvements are needed to ensure that our aging water infrastructure system remains in the best possible condition. Over the next 5 years, we plan to invest $52,755,823 in capital replacements, repairs, and enhancements. The Capital Improvement Fee will assist in funding these critical investments.

What will the fee be used for?
The value for all of NPPWD's capital infrastructure is over $51,000,000, and will be growing to approximately $95,000,000 by 2027. Over the next 5 years, the Capital Improvement Fee will assist us in funding approximately $52,755,823 of capital improvements. During this span of time, investments are budgeted to be $1,558,198 in the Distribution System, $47,091,7910 in Water Production & Storage, and $4,105,834 in Facilities and Equipment.
