FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The North Park Public Water District has no higher priority than protecting the health and safety of our employees and ensuring we have the staff, materials and capability to provide uninterrupted safe drinking water to our customers. With this in mind, the NPPWD will be initiating the following actions effective Monday, March 16, 2020 and continuing for the next 30 days:
We want our customers to know their water is safe to drink. The North Park Public Water District complies with all applicable regulations and treatment requirements including chlorination to prevent waterborne pathogens. The disinfection process is a protective barrier that prevents bacteria and viruses from contaminating our drinking water. In addition, the COVID-19 virus has not been detected in drinking water supplies and according to the Environmental Protection Agency the risk to water supplies is low.
We will also continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 and will implement additional precautions and the situation dictates.
We apologize for any inconvenience these new protocols will have. While we believe strongly in providing exemplary customer service, we also have an obligation to our employees and the public in general to assure we can continue to provide our critical, life sustaining services.
We will continue to keep you updated through the media, Facebook and our website with any changes that may occur. We know if we all work together, we will get through this event with minimal inconvenience.
